Opening hours

A garden of international standard, unique in Austria, because it gathers over 280 species of citrus from all over the world. Our botanical garden contains antique varieties from the Medici collections of the XVI century. There are rare species and exotic pieces from the Far East, Africa, America, but also newer species from the Australia. The 4000 m2 Mediterranean garden is protected against bad weather and allows visits in any weather. The outdoor tour (only in the warmer months) leads through the Mediterranean garden, which is lovingly decorated with old citrus trees, palm trees, olives and many other Mediterranean plants.

The seasons of the fruit

From Christmas to March our biggest fruits ripen – Buddha’s hand, Maxima and Co reach over 35 cm in length and almost 3 kg in weight! The main flowering starts in April, and with increasing warmth, the unique lemon fragrance lingers in our halls. Due to the long maturation times and the different countries of origin you can marvel at rare varieties in every season. Equipped with many seating options, our greenhouses invite you to spend some time in our garden houses. By the way – for our hospitality and our high quality of service we were awarded with the Carinthian quality seal for excursion destinations. The garden, the greenhouses and the event hall are barrier-free!

The Faaker See

Visit us in the citrus garden and spend a relaxing short break in Carinthia at lake Faaker See. In addition to the crystal clear and warm water, there are many attractive hiking tours in the area such as the Alpe-Adria Trail. In addition, there are many bike paths and MTB trails – especially recommended is the Drauradweg and the Flowgartner Trail on the Baumgartnerhöhe.

The citrus garden supplies the best chefs in the region with the finest citrus specialties. Further information about the Carinthian Alpe-Adria cuisine can be found here.
